At the end of each year, the Geological Society of Australia reports the membership demographics. The following graphs are either reproduced in the March TAG, or in the Register of Members.
These figures are the basis for understanding the GSA as a professional society. GSA members work in many different areas and specialties across all the States and Territories. The concentration of the membership appears to be employed in the minerals industry and in tertiary institutions, closely followed by consulting and state surveys.
