SGTSG Denmark 2017


Scientific Program

The conference aims to bring together the research community in structural geology and tectonics within Australia and internationally to discuss the latest research and developments in these fields. We plan to maintain the relaxed, informal atmosphere of previous SGTSG conferences, and strongly encourage student attendance and presentations. The conference will include a mid-conference field trip to see the spectacular local geology as well as other events. We hope that the conference will provide a nurturing networking experience for all attendees.


A wide range of topics are presented at the SGTSG Denmark 2017 Conference, including:

  • Characterising lithosphere structure

  • Advances in geodynamic modelling

  • Continental Extensional Tectonics and Rifted Margin Evolution/Processes

  • Evolving microstructures in deforming rocks

  • Megastructures

  • Regional tectonic analysis

  • Role of structural processes in mineralization

  • Discussion session - Education in structural geology and tectonics

  • Rock physics and geomechanics of deformation localisation – faults fractures and shear zones

  • Discussion session – Statistical analysis of structures in 2D and 3D, and dealing with uncertainty

Conference Dinner & Awards Night

The conference and awards dinner will be held on Saturday November 11th 2017, from 6pm to 11 pm, at one of Denmark’s finest restaurants specialising in local produce, Pepper and Salt Restaurant at Forest Hill Vineyard.

The event is included in the registration and includes a three course dinner and Forest Hill Estate wine package. Forest Hill Winery is only a 10 minute drive from the town of Denmark and we will provide coach transport from the Conference Riverside Club venue and the Koorabup Motel.

If you would like to bring guests you will need to purchase an extra ticket with your registration at $115 per person.


Please also indicate any special dietary requirements. The sooner you do this the easier it will be to accommodate your needs.

To register for this event you will need to first Sign In (for GSA Members) and Create an Account (for non GSA Members).

Next you will need to click on the  button (located above). You will then need to click on the appropriate registration option which applies to you. Please then answer all questions.

In the 2017 Denmark Program Items click the down arrow and select View all. As seen in the picture below:


Add to your program itinerary items which you wish to add by click the   button (located next to each program item above). Note: Items Prices are displayed excluding GST. GST will be added on checkout. Please answer questions if they pop up in relation to program items.


The final step is to Proceed to Payment

Once you have selected your registration option and program items please proceed to your cart. This can be done by scrolling to the top of the page and clicking on cart.
