Wednesday 22nd October
Special joint GSA & ASEG meeting to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the active period in the "Old Magnetic Hut" (ANU).
Time: 5 pm, Gather for refreshments on the grass south of the southeast corner of the Forestry Building (48) ANU. A plague will be unveiled at 5:30 pm by Professor Kurt Lambeck (President of the Australian Academy of Science), with the session "Palaeomagnetism 1958, Revisited" to begin at 6 pm. At the session, Ted Lilley will present "The Old Mag Hug 1955-64, and Australian Continental Drift" and Ian McDougall will present "Establishing Geomagnetic Reversals".
Dinner will be at the nearby Vivaldi's Restaurant (cost $65 includes wine and vegetarian option). Book for the dinner by COB Friday 17th October with ted.lilley@anu.edu.au
